FRANCISCO GOYA

Two of Goya's best known paintings - The Naked Maja c.1800 and The Clothed Maja c.1803

Nos.80/81

The paintings were never publicly exhibited during the artist's lifetime. In 1813 the Inquisition confiscated both as "obscene" and held them until 1836 when they were released to the Academy of Fine Arts, San Fernando.
